I called to buy a new opener. The technician arrived and explained that the springs were not strong enough to hold up the door. At first I didn't believe him, but he brought me out the the garage and showed me. He replaced the springs and pulleys and then replaced the gears in the opener. It did cost more than I had hoped, but everything works fine. I would reccommend you to my friends.
